Frequently asked questions
Is Docexp really free, or is there a catch?
It's free because there is nothing to meter. Every tool runs as JavaScript in your own browser, so there are no servers processing your files and no compute bill to pass on. That is also why there are no daily quotas, size caps, or watermarks — those limits exist on other sites to ration server time Docexp doesn't use.
How do I know my files aren't being uploaded?
Turn off your Wi-Fi. Once a Docexp tool has loaded, it keeps working with the network disconnected — a site that runs with the network off cannot be sending your files anywhere. You can also watch the browser's Network tab while a tool runs: no file data leaves the page.
Why do upload forms keep rejecting my photo?
Usually because the form sets a range, not just a maximum — 'between 20 KB and 50 KB' — and ordinary compressors only shrink. A JPEG cannot be padded upward by compressing harder, so a photo that lands under the form's minimum stays rejected no matter how many times you re-compress it. Docexp's upload fixer targets both ends of the range, plus the exact pixel dimensions.
Do the tools work on a phone?
Yes. Everything runs in the browser, so the same tools work on Android and iPhone with no app to install. On older phones very large files can be slow, because the processing uses your device's own memory rather than a server.
Do I need to create an account?
No. There is no sign-up, no login, and no email capture anywhere on the site. Since your files are never uploaded, an account would have nothing to attach to.
